Innovation and new thinking

BS 150x180.jpgRecent years have witnessed very considerable increases in the prices of the materials that Tempress uses in its products.
We have been able to avoid passing these price increases on to our customers thus far – but in the future this will unfortunately have to change. We expect that the prices of Tempress products will increase by up to 10 per cent.
But instead of simply passing this problem on to our customers, we have pushed on with development of our relatively new Plus Line concept.
The Front Line range, with which Tempress has experienced success extending over several decades, features relatively expensive products with top-of-the-line specifications. In reality, however, there are many of our customers that do not actually need such top-notch specifications. Plus Line is therefore a range of pressure gauges with specifications that fully match those of our competitors, and can in most instances be used to replace our existing pressure gauge range, yet at low cost to our customers. The Plus Line range thus provides a clear way forward for Tempress customers that want to avoid the price increases that are now inevitable with the Front Line range.
The Plus Line range matches customer requirements as regards both quality and performance, yet at a lower purchase price – something that Tempress’ customers such as Siemens Windpower, Hansen Technology and Stolt-Nielsen have already benefited from.
Our working relationships with our customers clearly demonstrate that a desire to make changes is the path to lower costs and better returns. Yet again, Tempress shows the market benefits that accrue from using innovative, effective suppliers.

Quality at the right price

Tempress is to deliver thousands of thermometers based on the Plus Line concept to Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group, the Norwegian shipping line.

APS_termometer.jpgStolt-Nielsen operates 140 specially built tankers, and specialises in the transport of liquids of all types throughout the world. A typical Stolt-Nielsen tanker often features more than fifty separate tank systems, and as a result there may well be delicate Bordeaux red wine in one tank and acids or poisonous chemicals in the adjacent tank.
Any errors or faults could thus lead to disaster, and must be avoided at all cost. Leakages anywhere in the system simply cannot be allowed, and to help ensure this the quality of the components used in these vessels are extremely high.
Many of the liquids carried as cargo have to be kept under extremely accurate pressure and temperature conditions, and many of the tanks on board are therefore equipped with monitoring instruments. Read here how the Tempress Plus Line concept is able to live up to Stolt-Nielsen’s absolutely exceptional quality requirements, and yet at the same time be competitive in terms of price.

We are currently engaged in extending our dealer network. Our aim is to be able to cover the world market within the segments in which our particular skills lie – the marine, refrigeration, sanitary and process industries.

Our new dealers are identified and selected on the basis of carefully targeted surveys and market research, in addition to commercial working relations and enquiries from abroad.
”We are looking for companies that are professionals in their field, and that know their markets and their specialist fields thoroughly. For us, it’s necessary that our dealers can carry through technical sales with a good understanding and insight into the customer’s applications, and that they can provide extremely professional after-sales service,” says Sales Manager Søren Kruhøffer.

Dealing with complaints

We have now tightened up on the way that Tempress deals with any complaints that might arise. A systematic new set of procedures means that responsibility for dealing with any such matters has been transferred from the production department to the sales department.
As Sales Manager Søren Kruhøffer points out, ”It is, after all, the sales department that engages in the crucial dialogue with Tempress customers, and knows what was actually delivered. We have to be faster and more efficient in processing any complaints, and we know that it is an area where there’s room for improvement.”
Our new complaints processing system aims at ensuring that we always tackle these matters in a professional manner. Each complaint is assigned a specific number, and that number then accompanies the item from the moment we receive it for repair, via the repair process and on to quality assurance and dispatch back to the customer. Our procedure is based on the customer using this identification number in conjunction with any communication on the subject.
”This tightening up means we can provide Tempress customers with even better service, with more rapid answers and shorter complaint processing times,” explains Søren Kruhøffer.
The new system is being run in and tested as this newsletter goes to press.
