We want to expand at a controlled pace. Growth for its own sake is not the issue. What really matters is always being able to provide market differentiation. We must sell the Tempress name based on know-how, applications and content. This is absolutely necessary if our working relationships with customers are to provide them with real value.
That is why we base our expansion outside Denmark on skilled, local working partners. We have set up cooperative ventures in both Korea and China with technically skilled, well-trained people who are much more than agents acting on our behalf, and in effect serve almost as subsidiaries. They provide the supplementary services we require, and are familiar with each particular market and with the relevant authorities, language, customers and products. We would not be able to achieve such success without them.
This means that our local working partners are in a position to work in accordance with the Tempress philosophy and provide the level of safety and quality we expect.
This strategy has resulted in a sales breakthrough in Korea for our gas density monitoring units for the electricity supply used for the country’s new high-speed trains.
KEPCO – the Korea Electronic Power Corporation – has given Tempress the seal of approval as a manufacturer, and we have now been asked to supply the Korean railways with advanced monitoring equipment. The initial order is for 550 Tempress gas density monitors – equipment that will ensure the safe, efficient supply of electricity to Korea’s new high-speed trains.

The Hyundai Engine & Machinery Division has spent eight months testing a new double-action thermometer for gas emissions. The test was so successful that Tempress will now move on and supply Hyundai with these instruments. Hyundai is the largest shipbuilder in the world, with an annual production of approximately 180 marine engines. Each of these engines has traditionally been equipped with 12–14 mechanical thermometers and an equal number of electronic ones. Both types of temperature measurement are a requirement because electronic monitoring and control of the engine must be possible, but the engine must also continue to operate in case of electrical breakdown.
Tempress has combined both methods in one single instrument and has ensured that they both show the same result. This was not possible using existing equipment, and the new instrument will enable Hyundai to use 50% fewer thermometer mounting connectors on each engine. This means a more rational production process at the shipyard’s engine factories.

Tempress has entered into a working agreement with Tel-Tru Manufacturing Co. in the USA to sell our range of sanitary manometers and PT100 sensors on the American market. Our new working partner also manufactures instruments for the food and pharmaceutical industries, and both companies can thus together provide customers with a complete range of products of this type.
It can often be difficult to obtain product approval from the American food and pharmaceutical authorities, but all Tempress products are Triple A approved and conform to FDA.

Our new working partner is currently attending a major food fair in Chicago, where Tempress products will be presented.
