Application

Pressure Equipment Directive - PED

The European Community has decided to pass a set of rules called the Pressure Equipment Directive – PED.

These rules state that all kind of pressurised equipment must have a safty system that prevents the pressure to exceed the Max Allowable Operating Pressure that the equipment has to be approved for.

In the past the way of preventing the pressure to rise was to either install a pressure relief valve or a pressure bypass valve!

Now…

TEMPRESS has developed a new device – SwipGuard - that can be installed in the process line and give a emergency signal to either a pump or an electrical bypass valve.

The SwipGuard has been tested and approved according to the requirements in the Standard by TÜV.

SwipGuard acts as an ordinary switch in the security circuit and are set to break the circuit by a preset pressure.

SwipGuard has an internal detector to survey weather the bellow is leaking. If so the sensor will give a signal that can operate a surveillance system in a PLC or PC monitoring.

The TEMPRESS SwipGuard Type P1360 is designed to meet the new PED zone I, II, III and IV requirements for emergency surveillance in pressurised piping systems.

The TEMPRESS SwipGuard is available in an industrial version for direct mounting by thread and in a special hygenic version with diaphragm seal for sanitary industries. Which allow it to be used for all kind of process equipment.

The TEMPRESS SwipGuard system Type P1360 consists of two independent and redundant switches.

The Chemical Industry:

The SwipGuard can as well be used with great advantage as all kind of diaphragm seals can be mounted to withstand a chemical attack.

At the same time it is possible to mount the SwipGuard with a cooling tower so almost any temperature in the process can be handled.

The heating and boiler Industry:

SwipGuard can be equipped with a remote capillary pipe so the radiation and environment temperature will not harm the device

Food and drug Industry:

The SwipGuard are developed in the background of wishes from the dairy-equipment producers, as spillage during processing is a major problem that occurs when using pressure relief valves or a sprin clap.

When using SwipGuard all kind of diaphragm seals can be mounted so the necessary hygienic cleaning process is easily done.

Using the SwipGuard in the food and drug industry where all kind of fluids are processed the same high security are achieved and an efficient cleaning process can be utilized.
